Biggest non-Story Ever

I've neglected the blog a little lately due to an overly busy work schedule and other time consuming matters such as moving to a new house.

Going forward, I hope to make more frequent and smaller blog entries in between any lengthier posts that I may write. I also intend to be more critical of positions that I feel are irrational and biased.

At the moment, I just want to point out how ridiculous the media's coverage of the Runaway Bride has become. It was bad enough in the day or two before she came forth and revealed that it had just been a case of cold feet. The media created yet another spectacle of insinuation, speculation and 24 hour sensationalism.

But its still going on! This is the biggest non-story in the history of non-stories, yet the media is hanging on and milking this for everything every last ratings point. Apparently the general public is collectively stupid enough to keep watching -- or at least the media thinks we are.

They are probably right. I'm convinced the public is now sufficiently lobotomized such that there is no longer a need for investigative objective news. Will any amount of data or evidence sway the mind of a hard core conservative or liberal on any issue drawn across partisan lines?

It doesn't seem so. Apparent indisputable facts that may contradict one's views are quickly explained away by one's chosen authorities as spin or bias from the other camp or are attributed to conspiracy or trickery.

I routinely listen to both conservatives and liberals complaining about media bias, and they are complaining about bias exhibited by the same media outlets. How CNN can be both liberally biased and conservatively biased to the point where it is no longer watchable is beyond me.
